VIRTUAL FENCES WITH MONIL
Monil AS develops virtual fencing technology and aims to become the leading digital herding solution. The company was founded primarily to provide farmers with tools that streamline operations, with a mission to simplify the everyday life of cattle farmers while improving the wellbeing of their animals.
Some arguments that support this:
- No need for physical fences
- The location of the animals will be easy to track.
- Make new grazing areas accessible for the animals.
- Optimize grazing on existing fields through strip grazing. This can increase grass production and thereby also the potential for carbon capture.
- The system will be developed to provide automatic health monitoring of the animals.
Sylva considers Monil’s direction to be forward-thinking, and the technology they are developing has the potential to bring significant benefits to agriculture. It’s exciting to see animals roaming freely without physical fences!
How is this collaboration working?
Sylva acts as a facilitator and assumes that the virtual fences used at Hauger Farm are provided by Monil. Sylva provides both indoor and outdoor areas to make field testing easier to carry out. In this context, Monil will have access to animals and grazing areas that they can use for testing and piloting the further development of their technology.
