FORESTRY

Forestry of the Future

The common goal of our forestry projects is to develop new methods of forest management that achieve the following four objectives:

  1. Increased biomass production and carbon capture
  2. Efficient carbon storage
  3. Increased biodiversity
  4. More nature for people

Many believe it is impossible to achieve all four of these goals at the same time.

We strongly believe it can be done!

Read about how the combination of Woodstore with the concepts of Production Forest and Natural Forest could be the solution. In Sylvaskogen, we aim to prove it.

Our Project in the Forest

WOODSTORE

Nature-Based Carbon Capture and Storage

Woodstore is a nature-based carbon capture and storage method where surplus biomass from forestry is stored in stable carbon chambers underground in ways that prevent decomposition. Read more about why and how.

PRODUCTION- AND NATURE FOREST

Optimization of Forestry Practices

Forests are extremely important for material production, carbon capture, and biodiversity conservation. It is impossible to optimize all three simultaneously in the same area. Sylva’s “Production and Natural Forest” concept (together with Woodstore) could be the solution to this trilemma.

THE SYLVA FOREST

Our Own Forest for Piloting

"We call the forest we own at Hauger and Tørfest ‘The Sylva Forest.’ All research and pilot projects for our forestry initiatives take place here."
